Rachel and Walker - Engagement Shoot
Earlier this week we were finally able to shoot Rachel and Walker's engagement shoot after getting rained out three days in a row (nothing quite like Florida in the summertime). They picked an awesome location on the Hillsobourgh River in Tampa that is just a few blocks from their house. We had a great time and Walker even busted out his guitar and we got to hear Rachel's beautiful voice as she sang along. I wouldn't be surprised if see these guys bring their music to the local scene at some point in the near future.
These guys are an awesome couple (heck they even brought me a beer ~ thanks!!!) and it really drove home how important I think shooting these engagement sessions is for me as a photographer. I try to include a engagement shoot in every package I put together, because not only does it allow us to capture some great images of the couple, but because it allows us to have time connect before the wedding day. I can't wait for this wedding as I know it is going to be blast.
Check out some of the pics from the other night...

Brochure
I just got the box of our new photography brochures in the mail today. We did the layout and design in-house and had them printed (at a very reasonable rate) at www.4Over.com, an online print house that we are setup as a retailer with.
Brochures will be going out to number of local venues and and all prospective clients. The are also going to be on display at Babies & Bellies (a baby boutique and consignment shop here in St. Petersburg) where they have a quite a bit of our dramatic portraits on display.
This brochure focus's mainly on our Dramatic Portrait and Wedding Photography. Another photography brochure on our Fine Art Photography and Nature Photography is in the works.
Here are some images of the brochure and a PDF can be found HERE.
If you would like a brochure drop me a line.

New Camera
After months of waiting I finally got my brand new Canon 1d Mark III . For those of you who have not heard about the the new 1D3 it is the new top of the line pro camera on the market. The current Nikon's and the older Canon's don't even come close to the power of this camera (it 10 pictures a second, each of which are 10+ megapixels).
I took out my new 1D3 last night to try out the new "liveview" feature on some fireworks shots. It worked great. Liveview lets me see everything I normally would through the viewfinder on the LCD screen in real time. While I don't anticipate using this all that often for weddings or portraits it was great for fireworks because I could enjoy the show without my face to the camera the whole time. I wasn't really going for stellar shots as much as I just wanted to try out this new feature but I did end up with a few "keepers".
Also as a special bonus I thought I'd post a pic of Olivia from today as she tried to clean up the house in preparation for our 4th of July party. This was also shot with the new Canon Mark III. More pictures from this new gear in the next few days.

Happy 4th of July
Happy 4th of July. I am a huge fan of shots of the American Flag so I thought I would share a few from my ferry ride over to Alcatraz while I was in San Fransisco.

Matt and Vanessa
After sharing the adventures of the flying wedding veil at Matt and Vanessa's beautiful San Fransisco Wedding I figured I would share a little more subdued shot that I liked...

The Flying Wedding Veil
We had a little excitement outside of the Church after the recent San Fransisco Wedding as the wind picked up and the wedding veil went flying.
After it happened the gentleman in me outweighed the wedding photographer as I put down the camera and tried to catch the veil. But as it was flying around the front of the Church and up and down the street I realized there were plenty of groomsman running around and I had better get the camera back up.
By the time the camera was back to my face it was back in front of the church again and eventually came down for safe landing in the hands of one of the groomsman.
Enjoy...
